Brazen reindeer theft

By SAMANTHA HEALY

RUDOLPH and one of his reindeer mates, possibly Blitzen, have been deernapped.

An unknown Christmas Scrooge struck late Tuesday night, stealing two reindeer decorations from Helen Kook's Christmas lights display in Sandbank Place, Kingscliff.

The reindeers, worth $150 each, were a popular addition to the Kook's lights display and have played a prominent decorative role for three years.

"I can't believe someone would steal them," Mrs Kook said.

"They just unplugged them and took off.

"They didn't even take the transformer for one of them so it won't work.

"Who would do this?"

The Kook family began deco- rating their house in lights and baubles approximately eight years ago and started with a single string of lights.

Each year their display has got bigger and better with hundreds of cars visiting the neighbourhood each night during the Christmas period.

"All the kids came down to have a look at the reindeer. I can't believe someone would stoop so low as to steal Christmas lights," she said.
