Family retains spirit of day

LITTLE one-monthold William Evans didn't know it, but yesterday was not only his first Christmas, but also his first church service.

Jacob and Louise Evans take the family to church on Christmas Day to help remind them that the true meaning of Christmas isn't getting presents and eating turkey, but a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The St James by the Sea church in Kingscliff was filled to capacity as Jacob and Louise brought in young William and Hannah, 3, to hear the Christmas message.

Mr Evans said he felt it was important as a parent to instil good values in their children from an early age.

"We just want to show the kids the true meaning of Christmas and try and get around the whole present getting thing," Mr Evans said.
