Fittler jumper for fundraiser

LOCAL celebrities, including Tweed mayor Warren Polglase, will take part in a celebrity auction on Sunday at Murwillumbah Showground from 11am.

The auction is part of a giant tsunami fundraiser organised jointly by Tweed River Agricultural Society members and Murwillumbah Central Rotary Club.

Topping the bill will be a signed 1998 Brad Fittler Sydney Roosters jumper.

Show secretary and Rotary president Ian Ross said other major donations for the auction included $500 worth of goods for vouchers from Katies Curtains, Coastal Turf and Wollumbin Palms Retreat as well as many other donations valued at several hundred dollars along with smaller items.

Luffleys Cafe in Main Street will donate profits from Saturday night's trading to the appeal, along with 50c from each coffee sold over the next fourweek period.

"All we need now is support from the public," Mr Ross said. "We have been overwhelmed by the response by the public to the monster garage sale to be held as part of the fundraiser," he said.
