Gardiner delivers at home

TWEED professional Scott Gardiner held his nerve down the final stretch to score a thrilling one-shot victory in the $7000 Murwillumbah Golf Club Pro-Am yesterday. With a top quality field intent on making the most of the ideal conditions, it was Gardiner who held steady, firing a three-under-par 68 on the Murwillumbah layout to edge out Queenslander Ian Walker. Australasian PGA Tour veteran and 2002 event champion Terry Price carded a one-under 70 to grab a share of third along with Gold Coast professional Peter Harrington, fellow Queenslander Travis Manning, Victorian Steven Krause and South Australian Brendan Chant. Gold Coaster Stuart Bouvier was one of a group of four that finished one shot further back on 71. Almost 70 professionals teed up in the 10th annual event and with 140 amateurs also testing their games, yesterday's Pro-Am proved to be one of the club's most successful tournaments. Gardiner collected more than $1200 for yesterday's victory.
