Girls power at Tweed track

THE girls showed how to do it at Border Park Raceway when Petite Cassie plotted the course for a female trifecta in the Christmas Novice Final (420m) on Saturday.

The Ian Hoggan-trained Petite Cassie (5/2, No.5) led the field to the sec- tional mark in a smart 6.88sec and held off a strong challenge from 13/4 favourite Jericho Rose (No.4) down the home straight to win by a half length in 23.8sec. Two lengths away third was No.3 Exotic Belle.

The win extended Petite Cassie's perfect record on the Tweed track to three wins from three outings and her career record to 5-7-1 from 17.

For Jericho Rose, trained in Murwillumbah by Bill Kennedy, it was her first loss at Border Park from four starts.

Four Way Fury produced the fastest time of the day, powering home in 23.47sec to win the Third and Fourth Grade (420m) tenth.
