Hardware man lends hockey a helping hand

By TANIA PHILLIPS

BRUCE WILLIAMS loves his hockey - some would say he is a hockey tragic - he's played it to repesentative level and has employed a lot of top local hockey players.

So when a sponsor was needed for the local tri-series hockey competition TweedBorder Hockey Association president Richard Philip, pictuered left, knew just who to contact - the JH Williams company.

"I was approached to play in the over 40s this year," said Williams, pictured right.

"But I am past all that." he said with a laugh. "I played hockey when I was young you can't grow up in this area and not play hockey."

He said his company was only too happy to help out as sponsor of the combined Lismore-Tweed and Gold Coast Hockey competition.

"The compmany has supported Border for many many years in various ways so when we heard they were in between sponsors we were happy to help out," Williams said.

The men's side of the competition is already in full swing with the round three of the competition being played this weekend while the women start next week.
