Hockey grans cheering Kookaburra on for gold

LET the games begin.

Kingscliff's Rae and Merv Edwards get around ? two years ago they were in Athens for the Olympics and today they head down to Melbourne for the Commonwealth Games.

The hockey mad duo have a special reason for their jet-setting ? cheering on grandson Nathan Eglington ? a member of the Australian hockey team.

The Edwards' are confident the team can repeat its gold- medal-winning performance from Athens, believing that India and Pakistan will be the Kookaburra's main opposition.

If the Australian men's team win, the pair will have to clear off another wall for more memorabilia.

The rest of the family ? including Nathan's nephew and the Edwards' great grandson Jaxon Miller, nine and a half months, (son of Nathan's older sister Rebecca) will be watching all the games on television and cheering Nathan on.
