Koalas hold nerve to beat Sharks
KOALAS ran in a double in the final inning to score a thrilling 7-5 victory over Sharks in their Tweed District Softball showdown at Piggabeen on Saturday.
With the match locked up at 5-5 heading into the final inning, it was the Koalas who held their nerve with centrefielder Ziggy Billings playing a starring role in the win.
The victory completed a winning double for Koalas after they had earlier trounced Pottsville 10-0.
In the women's competition, pitcher Amanda Searle produced a solid effort on the mound to guide Koalas to a comprehensive 13-4 win over Warriors.
In the other match, Murwillumbah bounced back from last week's 22-point shellacking at the hands of Cherokees to go down 12-6 to Arkedas.
