Kuhnell will be out for revenge

ONE of the hottest winning streaks in local motocross history came to end in Murwillumbah's on Sunday.

West Tweed's seemingly invincible Mark Kuhnell, who has taken the chequered flag in every round of the Open class for the last five years, was finally brought undone when he fell to third place behind Tony Hall and Steven Williams.

The action took place at Murwillumbah Showgrounds in the second of this year's five-round Murwillumbah District Motor-cycle Club annual series.

It would take a brave soul to bet against Kuhnell avenging the defeat some time in the near future, but the shock result was still a major topic of conversation on the day.

The second round was a little down on numbers due to the Thundercross Series taking place at Connondale.

There were a total of 75 riders nominating for the Open and junior sections, with plenty of tight results in the 13 classes run.

Australian Evolution Champion Ron Martin took the Evolution Class while Mitch Semmens won the Classic Class from Brian Marshall and Wayne Skyring.

It was a good day for Tony Hall, not only upsetting Kuhnell but taking out the over-30 class as well.

In the junior 125cc class, Adam Fielding took the honours ahead of Cameron Boyle and Terrance Campbell.
