Lakeside reaches state finals

Rugby Union

LAKESIDE Christian College's Under 15 team survived a hardfought semi-final on Tuesday at Banora Green to earn a spot in the Fester Shield, Under 15 Rugby Union Statewide knockout grand final. They travel to Bathurst for Sunday's grand final against Griffith High School. To earn their spot in the final they de- feated St Peters College from Maitland, 12-10. "It was a very tight game," coach Matthew Evans said. "We scored first through inside-centre Leon LeClare which our hooker Johnno Prestwich converted. But just two minutes later they equalised. They kicked a penalty goal early in the second half to lead 10-7. But our prop Trent Murray-Holmes scored a try to give us victory."
