Latin lovers sought

THREE Lindisfarne Anglican School students recently received honours in their silver medal Latin ballroom dancing.

April Kennedy, year 11, Stephanie Campbell, year 11, and Tye Penfold, year 12, started ballroom dancing a year ago at Danceland Ballroom and are over the moon with their achievement.

"It's really fun, different to other dancing as you don't need any former experience," April said.

Stephanie said they practised at least twice a week and it was good exercise but they needed more young guys to do it.

"We really would like more guys to dance so we could have partners and maybe go into competition," she said.

The girls said they had already passed their bronze medal, which is step knowledge, in all three dance styles - modern, Latin and new vogue and silver, which is more technique, in Latin.

"We now have to do silver in Modern and New Vogue," Tye said.

Stephanie and April agreed they both preferred Latin. "It's more fun, has more rhythm and is quicker," April said.
