Lil?s 95 and still bowling along nicely

SHE may be 95, but that hasn't slowed Palm Beach resident Lil Smart down.

Still an active member of the Palm Beach Past-Presidents Ladies Bowling Social Club as well as the Tweed Heads Bowls Club and up until a month ago, a keen bowler, Mrs Smart is keeping busy and last week she turned 95.

Mrs Smart said her birthdays have actually become better with age and ever since she turned 90, friends have really turned on the fireworks for her.

"Since I turned 90, I've really enjoyed it because I've had such lovely birthdays," Mrs Smart said.

"This year at the bowls club, they gave me a nice morning tea and every other year we've had a party at the club which everyone came to."

However, it hasn't all been good news for Mrs Smart this year. After 54 years she was recently forced to give up her bowls due to back problems but that doesn't stop her from going to the club every Thursday to see her friends and sell the club's raffle tickets.
