Little athletics set records tumbling

THE records tumbled like nine-pins at the Twin Towns Little Athletics Centre at the weekend.

Amazingly all the record-breakers bettered their own existing records.

Chloe Blanchard set a new mark in the under 12 girls shot put with a throw of 12.23 to beat her previous record of 12.18. Matt Leslie raised his under 12 boys high jump mark from 1.51 to 1.52metres.

Gina Dowdle continued her strangle-hold on the 15-years girls discus record with 36.02 beating her previous 35.88.

Records also fell earlier this month with Ellen Wilson doing the under-15 girls 800m in 2.31.95, Angus McNally the under-15 800m boys in 2.14.27. Nicole Luyten the under-13 girls javelin (31.18m) and Simon Campbell the under-14 boys highjump (1.74m).
