Masters of their craft

TWEED Coast Outriggers Masters men's and women's crews were among the medals as the young club's first major regatta went off without a hitch on the weekend at Kingscliff.

The men's crew - David Dempsey, Richard Cetenich, Glen Hardy, Steve Spence, Andrew West and Rod Clarke, pictured, finished second in their overall competition, while the women - Belinda O'Sullivan, Robyn Cetenich, Kim Crane, Sue Pattermore, Suzie Fewtrell and Lindy McGuren - took bronze in their category.

Both crews completed a 16km race on the Saturday and a 6km race on Sunday in the South Queensland Zone Titles.

Club registrar Belinda O'Sullivan said the two-day event was a big success for the two-year-old club, with competitors and spectators all impressed.

The event was the Tweed club's first major regatta, with 13 clubs taking part from Hervey Bay in the north to Coffs Harbour in the south. Mooloolaba won the overall championship.
