Million-dollar girl

By ADAM WRATTEN

KINGSCLIFF schoolgirl Stephanie Gilmore signed a lucrative five-year contract with Rip Curl yesterday, potentially worth one-million dollars.

Gilmore has been surfing's hottest property since beating the world's best to win the Roxy Pro at her home break, Snapper Rocks in March.

The 17-year-old blonde is now set to become the face of the next generation of women superstars - her looks, bubbly personality and million-dollar smile all part of the complete surfer's package.

Details of her performance-based contract were closely guarded yesterday, however, with a six-figure base deal she will break the million-dollar mark by fulfilling her potential.

But, while it appears she may have the world at her feet - Gilmore will have to wait until her 18th birthday (early next year) before she can buy her dream pad on the hill at Duranbah.

And she has still got her school HSC to go.
