Mug? golfer aces it twice

SELF-confessed 'mug' golfer Pat Daley, pictured, has defied the odds with a second hole-in-one.

Daley, a long-time member of the Coolangatta and Tweed Heads Golf Club, aced the 130m, Par 3, 3rd on the River Course during Friday's Stableford event.

The 62-year-old used a "little seven wood" to strike the ball before watching in shock as it trickled into the cup.

"I'm just a mug golfer," Daley said. "I just enjoy a hit, but this just went straight at the flag, hit the green and rolled in.

"The best part of it was that it was nearest to pin, so I won that as well."

While many weekend golfers spend a lifetime waiting for that elusive hole-in-one, Daley knows it is an experience to be savoured. The 27-handicapper also aced the 8th on the West Course back in 2000.

"They don't come around all that often, but when they do you remember them," he said.
