Murphys Rd prime address

KINGSCLIFF is on its way to holding host to the latest prestigious street address in Australia as development transforms the town's tiny beachfront strip.

Murphys Road is quickly being compared to Mermaid Beach's Hedges Avenue, as properties fetch record prices and local residents sell up to make way for millionaires.

Only days ago Winten Property Group announced they will begin construction early next year on a luxury apartment block at the start of the street.

"Zen" at No.1 Murphys Road will include 10 three-bedroom apartments, a penthouse and four two-level villas.

It will then be followed by a development by Usher Powell at No.12.

Zen will include six three-bedroom units of Asian design, incorporating the philosophies of the Zen culture and Feng Shui.

Murphys Road resident David Aubrey said Kingscliff's popularity was due to its quality beachfront land.

"Kingscliff is on a huge upward spiral and Murphys Road is the best address in Kingscliff," he said.

"There is such a shortage of beachfront land that you are going to get some parallels to Hedges and Albatross avenues on the Gold Coast.

"But Murphys Road is set apart because there are only 12 beachfront addresses there."

The golden period for Murphys Road started in June when Resort Corp opened their $8 million building Soraya, Dreamtime Beach at No.7.

Only recently its northern penthouse broke real estate records when it sold for $2.25 million to a Melbourne buyer.

And the boom is not expected to end there, with No.11 Murphys Road up for sale and expected to sell to another big developer.

"Murphys Road has become one of Australia's real hot spot addresses and will just get better," said Mr Aubrey.
