Murwillumbah rep season off to an early start

By TANIA PHILLIPS

MURWILLUMBAH Netball Association is gearing up for a busy season next year, with representative trials already under way.

"We hope to field a State League premier division side for the first time next season," Murwillumbah President Bernadette Barnes said yesterday.

"But of course we need to get through the elimination series next March to earn our spot.

"We will also be hoping to field a full contingent of representative teams in all age groups from 12s to 17s.

"We held our first trials for the representative teams at the weekend and will have another trial in February for all those girls currently tied up in other sports."

Barnes said the association would officially start its 2005 season with a twilight competition in February which will include junior, mixed and senior competitions. The annual State of Origin Shield will be held on April 10
