New editor for Tweed Daily News

NEW Tweed Daily News editor Brad Ricks is definitely familiar with the territory. Having spent two years as chief of staff under previous editor%Gary Smart, Mr Ricks has been instrumental in the current%direction of the paper. Tweed Newspaper Company general manager Alisdair McLean made the announcement yesterday, saying he was delighted to appoint a local to the position. “In his time here with the company Brad has proven to be a newsroom leader capable of%effecting positive change,” Mr McLean said. “As someone who lives here on the Tweed Coast, he also understands the issues that are important to the region. “I’m confident that under Brad our publications will continue to improve and provide the best-possible coverage of local news.” Mr Ricks, 30, said he was looking forward to the challenge of guiding the Tweed Daily News, The Tweed/Border Mail and The Gold Coast Mail. “We have three strong products which I believe do a good job covering the stories which matter to locals,” he said. “But we can always continue to improve. “Over the next 12 months we will work hard to provide the people of the Tweed and the Southern Gold Coast with papers that truly reflect their values and%offer informative and interesting stories. “We also need to be a champion for our region, taking a stance on the issues in which we as a paper can help deliver a positive outcome for the Tweed. “I’m genuinely excited about taking on this challenge.”
