New principal for Stokers Siding

HAVING returned to full-time studies after dropping out at just 17 years of age, Stokers Siding Public School principal Margaret Eaton knows the value of education. And it is this passion for learning that the 56-year-old wants to impart to her students. The grandmother of nine, who started at the school earlier this week, moved from Albury after teaching nationally and --------------- --------------- internationally. "I spent the last five years at a school which catered for children with behavioural problems," Ms Eaton said. "It is very rewarding to see kids happy and wanting to be at school." The affinity with "special needs children" has led her to undertake a research project in the early intervention of children with challenging --------------- --------------- behaviour. "My expertise is working with children with autism," she said. "Small schools like Stokers Siding cater really well to students who don't fit into a larger school." Looking forward to her time on the Far North Coast, Ms Eaton said she enjoyed racing horses and walking her dog on the beach. NEELIMA CHOAHAN
