Pottsville tops growth rate

THE Australian Bureau of Statistics has identified Pottsville as the nation's fastest growing town.

This has been justified with a sales surge amounting to $1.9 million in just eight weeks.

According to developer of the Seabreeze masterplanned community, Metricon, the sales boom has helped shoot The Tweed's reputation as a retiree's haven out of the water.

ABS figures showed the region is attracting more and more young professionals and Seabreeze project manager, Russell Dunster said that the sales activity over the past few weeks had dramatically picked up.

"A total of 18 sales in two months is a good indication, suggesting the market's already heating up," Mr Dunster said.

Mr Dunster said the estate offered a balance between the ocean and the mountains, located close to the beaches of Pottsville and being surrounded by lush greenery and views of the hinterland.

A further 10 stages are planned for release at the development over the next three to four years. The earthworks have now been completed for stages 9 and 10 and stage 9 is scheduled for release in early 2005.
