Pub social club aids school

CHRISTMAS came early for the Tyalgum Public School P&C Association when the Tyalgum Hotel Social Club presented it with a cheque towards a new ballgames court.

The funds, raised from raffles held at the hotel during the year, are part of the social club's annual donations towards local community groups and projects.

The Tyalgum Hotel's Sue Kilcoyne said the club, which had grown in numbers considerably over the past 12 months, reflected a strong sense of community which was flourishing in the village.

"Each year, the social club sits down to plan where the money should be directed and this year it was towards the school's P&C and the local pony club," she said.

She said the village was gearing up for a hectic post-Christmas period over the holidays, with increased numbers of daytrippers and travellers stopping in.
