Pulling strings for gallery puppet classes

STIMULATING the imagination of children is the aim of puppetry workshops to be held at the Tweed River Art Gallery.

This Sunday, workshop tutor Francesca Yasukawa will demonstrate puppet-making with activities for kids including shadow puppetry and hand puppet making.

"The after school workshop will make puppets on strings a magical process where we start with simple items of junk and end up with a puppet," Ms Yasukawa said.

"It's wonderful to animate the puppet into something live using the imagination."

The public program with Francesca Yasukawa will be held in the gallery foyer on Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Also at the gallery on Sunday Val Arnott Clark will be demonstrating how to make square socks from 1pm to 3pm.

After School puppetry workshop will start on August 8.
