Rodeo raises revenue for sporting and rescue groups

TWEED sports clubs and emergency services received valuable donations last week from the Cabarita Horsemen's Association.

The horsemen host the annual Cabarita Bull and Bronc Spectacular at the Cabarita Pony Club grounds and a number of different clubs volunteer their services to ensure the event is a success.

More than 3500 people attended this year's spectacular in January, which is now a mainstay on the National Rodeo Association calendar.

Clubs handed cheques in recognition of their efforts included the Tweed Coast Bush Fire Brigade, St John's Ambulance, Pottsville Hockey Club, Cabarita Surf Life Saving Club, the Cabarita Equestrian Ground Committee and the Tweed Valley Equestrian Group.

The horseman's association thanked all its sponsors.

The next major sporting event at the pony club grounds will be the Silver Buckle Campdraft in May.
