Sad farewell

EMOTIONS spilled over yesterday as nearly 1000 people paid tribute to the Tweed couple killed during last Thursday's floods.

Mourners packed Lakeside Christian Centre to farewell Kelli Jensen and Justin (Gus) Reid who were killed when the car they were in was swept into floodwaters.

Memories were shared during the service of the happy couple and their beloved dog Kirra, who also lost her life in the flood.

But the emotions ran so high and the sadness so deep that for some, the grief was too much to bear.

Gus's best mates, Matt, Adam and Justin led a moving tribute to the man they described as "the most genuine and down to earth soul."

Kelli's sister Samantha spoke of the time when their mother, Deb, had died.

"This was the lowest point of Kelli's life," she said.

"But Gus was right there with her."
