Search continues for Coast woman

POLICE divers from Sydney will today scour waterways on The Channon property where 25-year-old Daneeka Nixon went missing.

News of plans to scale-up the search came as police yesterday admitted they had no new information of what could have become of her.

Ms Nixon, from Burleigh Heads, has been missing since Sunday evening after coming to The Channon for a party over the Easter weekend.

An extensive ground and air search on Wednesday over rugged terrain on the four hectare property where the party was held, 1.5 kilometres from the village, failed to locate Ms Nixon.

Police have also spoken to a number of partygoers and nearby residents.

"The search has been progressed as far as we can by land and air, but police resources from Sydney will be up tomorrow," Inspector David Larkin from Richmond Local Area Command said yesterday.

Insp Larkin said a team of police divers and a dog squad from Sydney would continue the search of the property today.

He said police were concerned for Ms Nixon.

"Certainly we have concerns," he said.

"The fact it is out of character for her for the length of time she has been missing, we do have concerns. That's why we've taken the search so far."
