Search goes on for Tweed knife attacker



TWEED Heads police have issued a facial-identification image (comfit) of a man they believe could be responsible for a knife attack on a woman at Tweed Heads about two weeks ago.

A 24-year-old woman told police she was sitting on the roadside at the intersection of Kent Street and Murraba Crescent about 11pm on Tuesday March 14 when a man came out of nearby bushes and attacked her with a knife.

The woman suffered cuts to her hand when she tried to fend off the attacker and was treated at Tweed Hospital.

She ran off and alerted friends who called police.

The man police want to speak to is described as being of white/ European appearance, aged in his late 20s with a slim build and 175-180cm tall.

He was wearing a dark-coloured jacket made from parachute material and dark-coloured long pants.
