Shadow cabinet post for Page

NEWLY appointed NSW Shadow Minister for the North Coast Don Page MP says he is delighted the region will have formal representation in the shadow cabinet.

Speaking after the announcement by opposition leader John Brogden of a shadow cabinet reshuffle, Mr Page said the North Coast's growth rate was well above the state average, but the region was geographically a long way from the political capital of NSW.

"There is a feeling locally that the region is disadvantaged by our distance from the centre of government," he said.

"Giving the North Coast a voice at the shadow cabinet table will redress this situation.

Mr Page said twice as many people aged 65 and over would move to the North Coast region in the next two decades as lived here at present joining an increasing number of young families.
