FORMER Tweed Heads Seagull Balin Cupples will look to reignite his National Rugby league career after signing a one-year deal with South Sydney this week.

Cupples, 23, played a handful of games with Wests Tigers during a two-year stint with the club as a teenager before heading to the Queensland Cup to hone his skills.

The boom young centre had one year with Seagulls last year before joining Burleigh in the off-season.

He has been in impressive form this season, scoring 13 tries from 16 games for the Bears and representing Queensland Residents.

"They have signed me as a centre and that's where I want to play," Cupples said. "But to be honest with you I'll play anywhere they want me just to get out there.

"That (getting back into the NRL) has been my goal."

While Cupples is still to meet coach Rabbitohs Shaun McRae, the former Ballina junior will head down to Sydney in October.

Souths CEO Shane Rich-ardson said Cupples had impressed with his performances for both club and state.

"He is a renowned try scorer and we are pleased he will be joining the Rabbitohs in 2006," Richardson said.
