Spirtual Rumble connections on cloud nine

SPIRITUAL Rumble soared to a higher level in the feature race at Saturday's Border Park Raceway greyhound meeting, shattering her previous best effort in the 420m First/Second/Third Grade race six.

The 25-month old black bitch, trained at Dungay by Stephen Kavanagh, took .15sec off her PB, crossing in a smart 23.45sec.

Sent out as 5/2on favourite, Spiritual Rumble hit the sectional mark in a reasonably sedate 7.06sec, but there was no need to rush as she pulled away to win by an easy 3-1/2 lengths over second placed Queensland dog, Mount Milligan (No.3, 5/1).

Cufflink Shuffle (No.5, 12/1), trained by Glenda Dart at Dulguigan, was a distant third by 4-1/4 lengths.

Kynnumboon trainer Janet Clarke scored her first-ever winning double last week and must have liked the feeling, lining up for a repeat effort on Saturday with a double in races one and seven.

Token Fury (evens, No.1) opened the account for Clarke in the 420m Maiden Stake, race one and last week's winner Trend Setter (No.1, 5/2 on fav) made it two in a row, cruising to a 5-1/4-length win in the 520m Mixed Stakes race seven.

Next week's final of the Christmas Novice (420m) promises to be an entertaining affair with the three heat winners coming in within .07sec of each other.

Fastest qualifier was Tammy's Yo Yo (evens/fav, No.1) in a time of 23.77sec in heat one, race three.

Other heat winners, Jericho Rose (No.2, 7/4) and Petite Cassie (No.5, 3/1) ran equal times of 23.84sec in heats two and three respectively.
