sunami appeal raises $13,500

A ONE-off joint fundraiser between the Tweed River Agricultural Society and Murwillumbah Central Rotary Club last weekend raised $13,500 for the Indian Ocean tsunami appeal.

Vice president Allan Brown said the organisation, which conducts the annual Murwillumbah Show, provid- ed a venue and manpower.

The weekend saw a monster market, garage sale and ce- lebrity auction of items and vouchers donated by local businesspeople and residents.

"We raised $6000 at the garage sale owing to the generosity of the public with donations of articles," Mr Brown said.
