Tips for a safe break

THE Gold Coast Mail wants this Christmas to be as safe and convenient as possible for our readers.

For the lonely or those with no spare money for Christmas frills, St Paul's Anglican Church, Palm Beach Avenue, Palm Beach is giving a two-course free Christmas Day lunch from noon to 1pm.

The lunch will be served to anyone who has nobody to share their Christmas Day. All lonely people will be welcome.

To help you and your family out should you face a crisis during the Christmas break, we have provided a list of helpful contact details, together with the operating hours of Gold Coast City Council services.

o?The council's libraries' and offices' operating times will change over Christmas and the New Year.

Branch libraries will close at 4.30pm on Friday December 24, reopening on Wednesday, December 29.

However, they will close at 5pm on Wednesday December 29 and Thursday December 30, and at 4.30pm on Friday December 31.

They will also close on New Year's Day, and Sunday January 1 and Monday January 2 before resuming normal hours on Tuesday January 4.

Mobile libraries will not operate between Tuesday, December 29 and Friday, January 7 and will resume normal hours on Monday January 10.

All council branches, at Coolangatta, Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Mermaid Waters, Southport and Beenleigh, will close on Friday December 24 at 4.30pm and reopen Tuesday January 4 at 8.15am.

The main administration centres at Bundall and Nerang will remain open over the holiday break between 8am and 5pm except between Christmas Day and Tuesday December 28 inclusive.
