Trio kickstart Danish campaign

THREE Mt St Patrick students - Matt Steel, Ben Dusi and Mitchell Ousby - will test their skills against the best junior soccer players in the world when they play at the Dana Cup in Denmark in July.

The three under-14 players, who will also tour the United Kingdom as part of the trip, will represent The Futsal Institute, a Gold Coast-based organisation, at the tournament. The three players are all members of the Murwillumbah Services Soccer Club.

Teams from 90 countries will take part in the Danish competition, which is regarded as the world's premier junior tournament. The boys will also have an opportunity to see how the world's best players train, when they visit Chelsea Football Club, during their stint in the UK.

Matt, who played in the tournament last year, is a central midfielder, Ben a left winger and Mitchell a defender.

Local businesswoman Terri Askew, the licensee of the soon-to-open Murwillumbah Cottage Market at Knox Park, has sponsored the boys, and hopes there will be future sponsorships.
