Tweed paddler bags medals at world titles



TWEED-based paddler Nathan Baggaley has won gold in the 500m K1 kayak event at the World Canoe and Kayak Flatwater Championships in Zagreb. Baggaley won in one minute, 36.098 seconds. German Lutz Altepost finished second with Olympic 500m champion Adam van Koeverden of Canada third.

The win is Baggaley's second medal at the championships after he collected bronze in the 1000m K1 kayak event onSaturday.

Olympic champion Eirik Veraas Larsen of Norway won in 3 minutes 29.165 seconds, edging van Koeverden of Canada with Baggaley third.
