Tweed reps to tackle Ballinao Cricket

THE Tweed District Representative season starts this Sunday with a Tweed side heading to Fripp Oval to take on the home team Ballina in the first round of the NSW Statewide knock-out, the NRMA Country Cup.

The Tweed District Cricket Association has selected a strong 16-man squad to take part in the event which offers prizemoney of $20,000.

Those selected are Terry Wilson, Craig Wilson, Jamie Wilson, Heath Wilson, Damien King (Cudgen), Joel Wall, Damian Billing, Jason Wilson, Matt McDonald, Nigel Chapman (Colts), Michael Gray, Chad Ruddy, Craig Bonner (Terranora), Josh Singh, Mick Anderson (Pottsville) and Paul Dhillon (Murwillumbah).

Gerry Keyte, TDCA vicepresident, said the TDCA was close to securing sponsorship from an indoor cricket facility and intended to pay the representative players in recognition of their giving up their Sundays to take part in the representative calender.

The squad will meet with team managers Gerry Keyte and Ian Rawlings this Friday night for dinner and drinks in Coolangatta.

"This is the strongest side the Tweed has produced for some years and on their day could have a serious go at taking out this rich competition," Keyte said.

He asked all selected players to confirm their attendance for Friday night's activities and Sunday's match with team managers by calling 0412-745922 or 0423-472810.
