Walkers hit the path, chatting

WALKING for fitness and pleasure is the aim of Robina Just Walk It Program which started four weeks ago, in conjunction with Robina Town Centre and the Heart Foundation.

Gold Coast 60 and Better Program coordinator Anita Brennan said the Just Walk It group, with 100 walkers, met each Tuesday and Thursday morning at 6.45am to 7.30am when they walked around Robina Town Centre and the lake.

"After the walk we all have a chat at The Coffee Club, who offer a buy one get one free to the walkers, over a cuppa," Mrs Brennan said. "The offshoot from this is the group now want a 60 and Better Program - a healthy ageing program, in Robina for social activities which would be aimed at people 50 years and over," she said.

"Getting people together is what we're about - not just the exercise but the social aspect as well."

Mrs Brennan said the 60 and Better Program currently ran in Coolangatta, Mudgeeraba, Burleigh, West Burleigh, Elanora, Palm Beach and was now stretching into Tugun.

"We will hold a planning meeting on October 29 at The Pines Meeting Room from 9.30am," she said. Inquiries 5525 6466.
