Women unite for a special celebration

WOMEN across the Tweed celebrated their special international day yesterday with activities ranging from morning teas to ceremonial dances.

Numerous functions were held, including a special ceremony at the Coolamon Cultural Centre.

Richmond MP Justine Elliot celebrated by attending several functions, including the View Club lunch in Tweed Heads and at the Tweed Women's Service function in Murwillumbah.

"International Women's Day provides an opportunity for communities to recognise and celebrate local women's achievements and the contribution they continue to make to our area." Mrs Elliot said.
