Youngblutt looks to chamber presidency
IF Phil Youngblutt had his way, all of Murwillumbah's streets would be beautiful, there would be few car-parking woes and all business owners would be in the chamber of commerce.
But reality is usually different from the ideal, and that is why the former Tweed Shire councillor has announced his decision to stand for presidency of the Murwillumbah District Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Youngblutt hopes to "rev up" the chamber by attracting new members with discounted membership fees.
"Some feel the chamber is only about Main Street, but I think it should be about Murwillumbah and its surrounds.
"There was a drop in membership last year and that has to be addressed with a new fee structure. We need to get everyone involved, and if we can prove we benefit the town then the fees can rise," he said.
If elected, Mr Youngblutt wants to beautify Wollumbin Street and solve short-term parking woes.
