Concerns for woman missing for two months

CONCERNS have escalated over the disappearance of Lismore woman Ellen Wilson who vanished without a trace two months ago.

The 54-year-old was last seen at the Australian Hotel in Ballina on Friday September 11.

Absolute mystery

Richmond LAC investigations manager Detective Sergeant Bernadette Ingram said Ellen's disappearance as an "absolute mystery".

"Ellen was last seen at the Australian Hotel in Ballina," she said.

"As far where she went after that, we're at a loss to know where she went and we're appealing for help from the public. Any information may help us find her.

"We've spoken to quite a lot of witnesses and it's an absolute mystery.

"There's no indication as to what might have happened to her after she left the hotel."

Not suspicious

Det Sgt Ingram said the disappearance wasn't being treated as suspicious and to say anything else would be speculating.

Family and friends have told police it's out of character for Ellen not to make contact and to miss scheduled appointments.

It's believed Ellen may have left the hotel in her silver Subaru station wagon with NSW registration plates CB-76-QX.

Det Sgt Ingram said finding the silver Subaru station wagon was key to finding the whereabouts of Ellen.

Finding car is key

"If we find that motor vehicle, that's going to be the best clue to finding out where Ellen is," she said.

"She's been in this area for a little while now so she has established friendships here and she has been involved in some volunteer work.

"There are people she's left behind and if Ellen is out there and she is listening, all I can say is there are people who care about you and they just want you to get into contact."

Description

Ellen is described at 165cm tall with a medium build and shoulder length greyish-brown hair. She has blue eyes and wears reading glasses.

Anyone who has information on Ellen's whereabouts should contact the Lismore Police Station on 6626 0599.
