POLICE are appealing for two witnesses to a crash involving a Corrective Services in the state's north last month to come forward.

The crash occurred just before 1.15pm on Thursday, January 28 on the Gwydir Highway, about 10km west of Waterview.

Police from Coffs-Clarence Local Area Command, Fire & Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, and Rural Fire Service attended the scene.

The vehicle, carrying three prisoners and two Corrective Services officers, rolled onto its side.

All three prisoners were trapped inside.

Two were released a short time later, with minor injuries while the third was trapped for a period of time before being released.

They were all taken to Grafton Hospital. The driver and escort were not injured.

A crime scene was established and examined by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

As investigations into the matter continue, police are seeking to identify a man and woman who were travelling behind the truck in a black 4WD.

The pair was not involved in the incident but may be able to provide crucial witness testimony that could assist the investigation.
