Arch rivals battle it out for third

THIS week in the Premier Division on the Gold Coast, arch rivals Tweed Valley Kings and Palm Beach met twice in the space of five days in the battle for third spot on the table.

After a tough 2-2 draw away, TVK ran out convincing 5-1 winners this week in the second game, securing a top-four finish and an outside chance of finishing second at the end of the season.

IN Division One, Banora Point's season of struggle continued as it was easily beaten by Nerang 8-0.

In Division Two, Border United recorded a fine 3-2 home win over third-placed Burleigh Heads, while Kingscliff had a disappointing home loss 1-0 to Broadbeach United.

Division Three saw the battle for the top four places heat up, with two of our local sides involved.

Kingscliff travelled to Robina and managed a fine 3-1 win.

Murwillumbah fought out a tough 1-1 draw against a fast-improving Tugun side, and Border United went down 4-0 at Southport.

IN the Far North Coast's Second Division, Tumbulgum Rangers played two games last week, drawing 1-1 in a game against second-placed Lennox Head and then beating Italo Allstars with a comfortable 3-0 result.

This provides Tumbulgum with a great chance to reach top spot if they can win their next two games in hand over leaders Goonellabah F.C.

I WOULD still love to hear from clubs about key players and results. If you have anything newsworthy, especially with so many sides doing well, please let me know via the Tweed Daily News.
