Archers fired up for fame
FLAMING arrows in an upcoming episode of Steven Spielberg's Terra Nova series are the Gold Coast Archery Club's doing.
Membership officer Sheldon Gammon and another member tutored actors for scenes in the currently screening Channel 10 prehistoric drama.
Mr Gammon said he was called on to ensure "the look was right - plus we also shot some of the trickiest scenes ourselves".
"I think they just looked up the GCAC and contacted me first. We're more than capable of teaching people," Mr Gammon said.
"It was good fun; you won't see us directly but they used some of our frontal shots."
He said post-training the actors' filmed shots were "perfectly timed" while "here were two experts struggling to get their timing right" which he put down to acting skills.
"We trained the actors to shoot, and the rear (away from the camera) shots were perfect.
"I'm not sure they'll need us any more, but if so I'm sure they'll give us a call."
Mr Gammon said although he had not watched it yet, considering one of the Star Trek series' producers were involved in Terra Nova it should be "pretty good".
Though the club is clearly not struggling for small-screen exposure the one thing they do need more of is younger members.
