Are the Jets ready to do the Seagulls a favour?
WOULD the Bilambil Jets ever be so kind as to do cross-town rivals Tweed Seagulls a favour?
It will be that kind of mood at the Bilambil Sports Ground on Sunday when the Jets take on Currumbin Eagles for the Curtis Finn Memorial Trophy and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1993 A Grade premiership.
The Jets, who have had a down season in 2018 only managing to win three A Grade matches, will do the Tweed Seagulls a special courtesy should they defeat the Eagles, as victory would make sure the Seagulls brought home the minor premiership back south of the border.
Leading into the final round Tweed Heads and Currumbin both sit atop the ladder on 38 points, with Tweed edging the Eagles on point differential (+237 vs +134).
The Seagulls face a stern test against third-placed Runaway Bay at Runaway Bay at 2pm Sunday.
The Curtis Finn Memorial Trophy is an annual fixture played between Finn's junior club (Bilambil) and senior club (Currumbin).
The concurrent 25th anniversary premiership celebrations on the hill, which all old boys are encouraged to emerge from the valley for and reminisce, will ensure a great day down at the club with a live band, wood fire pizza and a jumping castle also planned to keep the kids happy.
