Armed police lock down court precinct after bomb scare

A MAN is assisting police with their inquiries into an incident outside the Courts complex on George Street, Brisbane City.

There were reports that a man was acting suspiciously nearby.

A section of Roma Street is currently closed to traffic and pedestrians between Herschel and Ann Streets while  specialist police conduct investigations.

Unconfirmed reports suggested a heavily tattooed man threw something underneath a police car, sparking the lockdown.

The court precinct was evacuated after the incident, with heavily armed police swarming to the area.

The Magistrates and Supreme court, plus a stretch of George St in between Roma and Ann streets were put into lockdown.

The nearby Coffee Club franchise, which sits in the precinct, was also evacuated with staff and patrons being told to leave everything and go.
