Artists happy to be framed
The only thing missing from the perfect artwork is the perfect frame.
Jen and Rex Hutchison have combined their love of art with skilful framing for 12 years and have just opened their second art exhibition.
The exhibition really puts Coastal Framing and Design on the map with more than 90 people from all over the coast turning up to the Tweed Heads South warehouse for the opening on Tuesday night.
Six artists from Byron Bay, Currumbin, Coomera and Pottsville, who are regular clients of the framing business, will have their work on exhibit at the store for the next few weeks.
Co-owner Jen Hutchison said her and her husband Rex were thrilled to be able to show works of local artists.
"These artists have always come to me to get their work framed," Mrs Hutchison said.
"I said to them, "you've just got to exhibit these."
"Because it's good framing the artists are happy to show their work."
She said artists were thrilled with the sales made, with two original works and a number of matted prints, small frames and gift cards selling on the opening night.
"We have had several lovely emails of thanks, with people commenting on the high standard, friendly atmosphere, talented work and framing that was exhibited on the night," Mrs Hutchison said.
"Other gallery curators came from other galleries in the area, local photographers and artists were impressed with the professionalism, the art work and the gallery itself."
Mr Hutchison was also pleased to share bubbly and wines from his vineyard, Patrick of Coonawarra.
