Assault and robbery charge for 22yo

GOLD Coast police have charged a 22-year-old man with the assault and robbery of a taxi driver at Bilinga.

The man was charged after police investigations into the assault that occurred at 1.20am (Qld) on October 22 while the car was moving on Pacific Pde.

The assault left the taxi driver, a 30-year-old Southport man, with grazes and contusions to his head.

Police charged the 22-year-old Bilambil Heights man with one count each of robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He will appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today.
