Assault on 14-year-old girl

TWEED detectives are investigating the serious assault of a 14-year-old girl in Tweed Heads South late Friday night.

Detectives said the assault occurred sometime between 11.30pm Friday night and 3am Saturday morning at the Ukerebagh Nature Reserve. The attacked occurred close to the Tweed River shoreline.

Police set up a crime scene with a large area taped off down to the water line. Two forensic officers were still on the scene late on Saturday afternoon.
