Attempted murder charge

A BANORA Point man has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after police allege he stabbed a man 27 times and forced him into his car boot near Bray Park.

About 11.30am DST yesterday the 41-year-old surrendered himself to Macquarie Fields Police.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder, special aggravated kidnapping, and stealing a motor vehicle.

He was refused bail and is to appear in Campbelltown Local Court today. Police are looking for a stolen 2001 silver Mazda 626 involved in the incident.

Police allege that about 11.30pm on Saturday the two men, both from Banora Point, were involved in an argument while driving on Kyogle Rd towards Uki.

Police say the 41-year-old driver pulled the car over and stabbed the 62-year-old 27 times before forcing him into the boot of a stolen car.

The victim was able to open the boot from the inside and jump from the moving car on the road which has speed limits of from 80 to 100kmh.

The 62-year-old was able to get help and was taken to Gold Coast Hospital where he underwent four hours of surgery for two punctured lungs and a serious laceration near an artery in his neck.
