Firies attend Kingscliff bushfire

FIREFIGHTERS from three district brigades were called to a bushfire in Kingscliff yesterday.

One appliance from Kingscliff Fire Station, one from Tweed Heads Fire Station and two from the Rural Fire Service attended the fire, which was burning near Elliston Street.

A spokesman from the Tweed Fire Station said the fire covered about one hectare of land.

The Rural Fire Service received a call about the Kingscliff fire at 2.22pm yesterday afternoon.

No residents were asked to leave their homes as a result of the bushfire.

The three teams of firefighters worked to contain the fire, which was still burning at 5pm.
