Aus aid worker returns from Libya

AUSTRALIAN aid worker Alexandra Bean flew home from Libya on Sunday night after nearly a week stranded in Libya.

Libyan authorities took the aid worker's passport last week after false claims she was raped by a government official were circulated.

A statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed Ms Bean's passport was returned on Sunday.

A departmental spokeswoman also acknowledged the support of Libyan and United Kingdom authorities.

Various media reported Ms Bean's brother James said she boarded a flight home to Bali on Sunday night.
